FY 08-09 Funded Program Information

"School Readiness Initiative"
TEACH, Inc.
School Readiness services will be offered, at no cost, to those families just above the subsidized standards.  These families often have unmet needs because they don't qualify for subsidized programs yet lack the financial resources to pay the full costs for services.  Under this proposal, the services are defines as new comprehensive; new enhanced and; new preschool opportunities  to previously un-served children and families.  New Comprehensive services will be provided to families of children 0-3 year using the Early Head Start home visiting model.  These services include a weekly home visit of 1 1/2 hour duration, and twice monthly socialization (play-group) events.  New Enhanced services (using the Early Head Start Model) will be available to target children 3-5 year who are enrolled in preschool.  These services include a monthly home visit to each enrolled family.  Education and information will be provided via presentations (classroom or parent meeting) regarding health, nutrition, mental health and other applicable community resources.  These are additional services that will not only benefit our program participants but will also outreach to benefit the entire preschool population.  Family/child goals will be established and progress reviewed regularly with enrolled families.  These Enhanced services will be provided to the New Preschoolers.  New Preschool Opportunities will be created by the provision of subsidies to offset full-cost for over-income families with children 3-5.
